I used to bake all the time as a kid. I’d take over the kitchen for every major school break with the goal of trying single recipe from the baking books my mother had accumulated over the years.
But I faced a major conundrum when I started living by myself. See, I had relied on family members (and later roommates, in college) to help me devour whatever cake or pie or experimental creation I had baked up. But I couldn’t take responsibility for an entire cheesecake, intended to serve 8, all on my own.
I had two choices: give up baking, or come up with more manageable recipes so eating what I baked remained fun instead of turning into a chore. Obviously, I went with the latter option.
Then I thought, I couldn’t be the only one! So I decided to start this blog for others who are also looking to bake for one — maybe because you live alone, or your kitchen is too small for a full-sized recipe, or you’d rather bake a little of everything.
